With its 540 students, Baggeboskolan is considered a large school in a small town like Tibro. The local craft traditions are reflected in the building’s design, layout, choice of materials and interior decoration, which, combined with the guiding principles of safety, joy and learning, has resulted in learning environments that meet the needs of every student. Liljewall Arkitekter centered the design around three core values: Learning, Security, and Joy. The layout consists of six distinct “home bases” and a bright, central atrium that physically connects the different wings. The town of Tibro is highly regarded for its rich history in furniture manufacturing and woodwork: the architects honored this by incorporating local craftsmanship traditions directly into the building’s materials, interior design, and bespoke wood carvings.
