Playlab is the new area of Museum Leonardo Da Vinci dedicated to children aged 3 to 6, offering them a unique way to experience the Museum. It’s an invitation to play, invent, imagine and tell stories. It is a 400-square-metre space organised into five areas designed to encourage collaboration and sharing amongst all participants, including adults. In the first four rooms, art installations, exploration activities, games and hands-on building exercises allow visitors to immerse themselves in fun experiences where art and science come together. With the help of the Museum staff, everyone can explore the shapes, materials and sounds of nature; use their imagination and storytelling to discover surprising historical objects from the collections; build a fantasy world using a variety of unstructured materials; and play with light and shadows as they move between the analogue and digital worlds. Here, children – together with their carers – can move about freely once they have booked a place. The final space is the Atelier, which, organised to deliver structured, guided programmes, follows in the tradition of the Museum’s interactive workshops. It invites participants to delve deeper into specific themes through experimental activities and open-ended inquiry, enabling personal journeys of discovery to bring out their own insights, ideas and theories.
