Library Singuerlin Salvador Cabré - Barcelona
Surfacing bibliotheque with rubber flooring Kayar
This project features the transformation of the top floor of a disused market into a new cultural center for the Santa Coloma de Gramenet neighbourhood in Barcelona, comprehensive of a library, a bar and a cinema.
The studio Taller 9s Arquitectes transformed a massive volume, closed and geometrically confused, into an open, welcoming space: “a light building, without closures, with no partition walls, simply a part of public space conveniently bounded, climatized and equipped”.
The new space is defined by the continuous plan, by three metal volumes and a “skin” of stainless steel mesh which limits and qualifies internal space, enhances the dialogue inside-outside and regulates light and energy flows.
The skylights and the central courtyard allow to maximize the use of natural light, ensuring the most suitable conditions for the use of library and minimize the energy consumption due to artificial lighting.
The library features our own Kayar rubber flooring, in the unusual K17 shade, for a total surface of 1500 sqm.
