PROJECT EVOKE Studio Architecture
PHOTOS Mark Herboth Photography

Named for two pioneering educators and advocates—Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray and Betty Doretha Massenburg—this elementary school honors a legacy of leadership and equity. Its design centers on a compact layout built around a shared courtyard to foster a strong sense of community. Wide hallways and the main lobby showcase the beautiful, wooded environment and let plenty of natural light in, while open learning commons encourage the exchange of ideas and learning beyond the classrooms. The bright colors from the Artigo collection, including a custom yellow color created specifically for this project, bring a playful yet refined aesthetic to classrooms, corridors, and shared learning areas, while supporting a quiet, slip-resistant, and comfortable experience underfoot.
