The Museum wraps around 11 hectares on the Acton Peninsula on Lake Burley Griffin, opposite Romaldo Giurgola’s Parliament House. In early 2022, three majestic orca whales were installed into the ceiling space of our new environmental history gallery. The orcas are seen swimming among a large-scale projected backdrop of underwater ocean scenes featuring giant humpback whales. With its accompanying soundscape, it is be one of the most immersive experiences within the Great Southern Land gallery.
